GENAQ’s solution to diseases related to lack of drinking water

Safe and easily accessible water is of vital importance to public health, whether we use it for drinking, for domestic use or to produce food. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water supply and sanitation. All people have the right to continuously have sufficient, safe, physically accessible, affordable water of an acceptable quality, for personal and domestic use.

Otherwise, what are the diseases that can cause the lack of drinking water for human consumption? In 2017, more than 220 million people required preventive treatment for schistosomiasis, a serious and chronic disease caused by parasitic worms contracted by exposure to infected water.

Contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to the transmission of diseases such as cholera, other diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid fever, and polio. An estimated 842,000 people die each year from diarrhea, including about 361,000 children under the age of five, as a result of unsafe water, insufficient sanitation, or poor hand hygiene. Diarrhea is the best-known illness associated with the consumption of contaminated food or water.

However, there are also other dangers. Almost 240 million people are affected by schistosomiasis, a serious and chronic disease caused by parasitic worms contracted by exposure to infected water.

These are some relevant facts and figures:

  • 844 million people lack even a basic drinking water supply service, a figure that includes 159 million people who depend on surface water.
  • Worldwide, at least 2 billion people use a source of drinking water that is contaminated by feces.
  • By 2025, half of the world’s population will live in water-scarce areas.
  • In the least developed countries, 22% of health centers lack water sources, 21% lack sanitation services, and 22% lack waste management services.

GENAQ has developed the solution to the serious problem of drinking water shortage. GENAQ atmospheric water generators produce completely pure and drinkable water, tested and certified by the most demanding drinking water standards. The filtering process, which goes through the air until it becomes water inside our generators, manages to eliminate all existing bacteria, viruses, and pathogens so that the water generated is of the highest quality.
